Hardware Modifications Installed By Me
Extra A/V Input (aka 2nd Audio Input): $35, plus return shipping fee as outlined below if applicable.
PAL tuner is still offered, but be aware that it is not really a worthwhile option any longer now that the price of a basic digital set top box is below $50 to buy almost anywhere (even supermarkets!) and you get a wider range of channels than you can via an analogue PAL tuner. If you have already used the TiVo A/V input for Foxtel or similar you will need the Extra A/V Input modification done. Refer the price above and also the "Extra A/V Input" menu for more information on this modification. If however you still prefer an internal PAL tuner then I can fit them but the price is expensive at over $100. Exact price will be quoted at time of asking due to supplier price fluctuations, etc.
Special note on my hardware modifications: Because TiVo work is only an after hours hobby of mine and NOT my full time job, and also because I have family commitments, I will try my best to turn around your TiVo within 72 hours (3 days) of receiving it which includes full before and after modification testing. However please understand that work or family (or sometimes both!) may result in a slightly longer timeframe. I do appreciate that your TiVo may already be a part of your lifestyle or if you are a new TiVo person you may be anxious to get your TiVo but please understand my circumstances too! If there are any delays I promise to keep them to the bare minimum and keep you fully informed. Thanks :)
D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) - I supply you the parts and you install
2nd Audio Input parts (RCA connectors, capacitors, etc) : $25 including postage.
Repairs and Exchanges
TiVo motherboard fully tested working: $100* exchange for your defective board
TiVo motherboard fully tested with PAL tuner & "Mark 2" stereo decoder installed: $150* exchange for your defective board
TiVo motherboard fully tested with 2nd Audio Mod parts and RCA socket (you fit to your case): $110* exchange for defective board
TiVo motherboard fully tested with both 2nd Audio Mod & PAL tuner & "Mark 2" stereo: $160* exchange for your defective board
* above exchange prices are the total price. There is no additional labour costs on these prices.
All other TiVo work and fault repairs that do not require motherboard exchange (ie minor only faults): $45 an hour plus parts. This $45/hr price applies to motherboard repairs, user software related issues that need correcting, power supply related faults and anything else that does not involve the motherboard. Many of these faults can be solved in the timeframe of an hour or two.
Shipping
Shipping is additional to the above costs as follows:
- Whole TiVo units after modification or repair: $30 to anywhere in Australia registered and insured post
- TiVo motherboards after repair or exchange: $20 to anywhere in Australia registered and insured post
- All other items free postage if being posted with a whole TiVo as stated above.
You are welcome to specify something else at a negotiated additional shipping charge. I cannot courier items unless you organise the courier from your end and charge it to your account. I can ship outside Australia but postage costs will be calculated at the time of inquiry based on size, weight and destination.
Payment
Payment can be either cash, money order, cheque, or via my Paypal account (paypal do take major credit cards too). More specific details on all these options available on request at the time of organising what work you would like me to do. Contact me for details. Cheques will take a couple of days to clear, which if being included with a TiVo for modification should not delay the return of your TiVo given my usual 72 hour turnaround time however it may delay the shipping of spare parts orders.
